LinkedIn’s New Focused Inbox Surfaces More Pertinent Messages

LinkedIn is upgrading its messaging experience with a new ‘Focused Inbox,’ which intends to minimize spam and surface area more relevant messages.

The next time you login to LinkedIn and open your inbox you’ll see a notice inviting you to “Attempt Focused Inbox.”

Clicking the button revealed above will automatically filter your messages into 2 tabs.

Focused Inbox uses AI to identify essential messages, which it filters into the ‘Focused’ tab while the remainder are sent to the ‘Other’ tab.

Considering there’s an AI component involved it might take time for LinkedIn to discover your inbox choices.

You’ll have the alternative to move messages in between tabs, or revert back to the standard messaging experience if you don’t enjoy the Focused Inbox.

LinkedIn is making this modification in uptick in direct messaging, which the business says is up 20% compared to last year.

In an email, a LinkedIn representative states:

“This function is the latest in a series of enhancements we’ve made to assist members have more productive conversations and connect to opportunities through LinkedIn messaging. With conversations up almost 20 percent because in 2015, we’re seeing more experts on LinkedIn are relying on messaging to link and engage with each other.”

LinkedIn’s Focused Inbox is now available around the world to all users.
